With a Ph.D. in Business, Susan spent the first 10 years of her career as a Business Professor in both Canada and the U.S. Sought after for her expertise, Susan provided expert strategy and leadership advice as a Management Consultant for several top Canadian companies. Before joining TTSG, she spent 15 years as a Senior Executive, leading and executing large scale strategy, organization, optimization, acquisition and business transformation initiatives across more than 10 countries for the Americas Region of a large global company. As CEO of The Targeted Strategies Group, Susan has and will continue to lead the Group through an internal corporate evolution and expansion across North America.
President, InterGen Solutions
John Durland (CPA, CA) works with high-net-worth entrepreneurial families and individuals, developing effective, tailored planning solutions that meet their business and personal needs. He is adept at explaining complex issues and detailed solutions to his clients and their advisors so they can make effective business decisions. Prior to joining InterGen Solutions, John was the managing partner of national tax solutions for a national accounting firm. He specialized in international tax, divestiture transactions, corporate restructuring, and estate and succession planning.
John Hutson brings an established career and track record to TTSG. He is an accomplished writer who co-authored the Canadian best-seller, “How to Reduce the Tax You Pay”, an editor, a tutor and lecturer and was a long-time employee and Partner of Deloitte. During his time at Deloitte, John was the SWO Tax Leader from 2001 to 2007, the Private Company Tax Leader from 2007 to 2014, and the Toronto TMT Leader/National TMT Tax Leader from 2014 to 2019. As a Principal with TTSG, John focuses on bringing innovative wealth optimization solutions to successful entrepreneurs and families in Ontario.

As a Principal, Harley brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Group that clients of TTSG benefit from. He has a long and well-established track record as an authority on accounting and tax issues. His written work and voice have been featured in newspapers and radio across Southern Ontario and he specializes in succession estate and financial and tax planning. Harley was the managing partner of Mintz & Partners from 1981 onwards until they merged with Deloitte in 2008. Harley became a Vice Chair of Deloitte until he retired as Partner in 2015 and then retired as Senior Business Advisor in 2019 when he joined TTSG.
As a Principal with TTSG, Rob focuses on bringing innovative wealth optimization solutions to successful entrepreneurs and families in Ontario. Prior to joining TTSG, he was a senior tax partner in a big four accounting firm for over 10 years. His practice focused on tax advisory and transaction planning, including a significant focus on tax planning for mergers and acquisitions. Over the last 25 years Rob has provided advice to public and private clients across Ontario and has held senior financial roles in both public and private companies. He is also a proven educator and has taught taxation and business topics for the Ontario Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants, The Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants, The University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.

As a Principal with TTSG, Jason focuses on financing and insurance products related to the group. Previously, Jason was a Partner at Azimuth Capital Management, which is an energy focused Private equity firm that managed more than $3 billion. Preceding Azimuth, Jason served as Director of Global Investment Banking for CIBC World Markets. Jason was also previously a tax attorney with Felesky Flynn LLP. His practice included mergers and acquisitions, financing, tax structuring including trust conversions, as well as working for clients with the Canada Revenue Agency and Department of Justice on an array of tax issues. Jason also worked at Deloitte as a Manager in the Assurance and Advisory Department.
With more than 20 years of experience in public and private practice advising clients on cross-border issues, Jas provides his clients with beneficial strategies to support their business objectives so they can compete more effectively in the global market. Jas advises clients ranging from owner-managed private corporations to Fortune 100 companies in a variety of industries, including mining, real estate, technology, manufacturing and private equity.

Head of Solutions
As Head of Solutions and a TTSG Principal, Peter Myers advises family and employee owned enterprises on structuring and tax opportunities. He came to the firm as a former tax partner with Deloitte and as former owner of a fund management company and several other enterprises. Peter has spent time in Canada, the United States, Australia, the British Isles and Spain throughout his educational and professional careers and worked with clients in those jurisdictions as well as South East Asia and Europe.

Arnold graduated with a Masters degree in actuarial science from the University of Manitoba in 1972. He is an actuary, having achieved his F.C.I.A. designation in 1974. Arnold spent 23 years at Crown Life Insurance Company, rising to the position of Senior Vice-President, Insurance Operations, in which capacity he was responsible for all the individual insurance operations of Crown Life in Canada, the U.S., the Bahamas and Hong Kong. Arnold left Crown Life in 1996 shortly before it was acquired by Canada Life. In 1996 he established his own insurance brokerage practice. In addition to his actuarial credentials, Arnold is a CLU, ChFC and CFP.

Gary is a family wealth strategist, committed to advising and assisting families to achieve their goals and objectives for the management, preservation and intergenerational transfer of wealth. Prior to joining TTSG, he managed a Family Office for 14 years from its founding for the principals of a prominent Real Estate Development firm. Previously, Gary was Executive Director and Head of Financial Planning with the international private banking division of UBS, leading and building the Canadian financial planning capability from inception. He also previously provided tax and estate planning advise through senior tax roles within the Private Client Group of PwC and with KPMG. Gary has also developed and delivered seminars on wealth management issues and been a lecturer on tax and estate planning at The University of Toronto, York University and McMaster University.
David is one of Canada’s foremost tax litigators, his practice extends to all aspects of tax and related corporate matters, particularly tax planning, real estate, tax litigation and resolution of tax disputes. David’s roster of clients includes large multinational corporations as well as owner-operated enterprises. He has extensive experience advising on taxation aspects of reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, financing, debt restructuring and transfer pricing.

Contract Client Manager
Lorn is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and has MBA and B.Sc. degrees from the University of Toronto. He recently retired as a tax partner from Deloitte LLP after 38 years in public accounting, 36 of which were in tax. Lorn’s practice focused exclusively in the private company marketplace where he assisted high net worth families, shareholders and key management in designing efficient structures and advising on estate planning considerations. Lorn also acted as the business advisor for his private company clients, assisting them with all facets of their business such as mergers and acquisitions, expansions, real estate purchases and divestitures and transaction due diligence.
As a part of the Solutions Group Mike brings innovative wealth optimization solutions to privately owned enterprises and their shareholders. Prior to joining TTSG, he was a senior tax partner with Deloitte LLP for over 20 years in Saskatoon and Calgary. Mike’s practice focused on tax advisory and planning for mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and financing arrangements for privately owned companies in western Canada. Mike is active in his community having been on the Boards of Junior Achievement of Northern Saskatchewan, The Riverside Country Club, Golf Saskatchewan, Golf Canada and the Golf Canada Foundation and has been on the organizing committees for the Jeux Canada Games and the World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatoon and Calgary.
Monte is a business advisor with twenty five years’ of leadership experience with a national public accounting firm working with owners, senior management and members of boards on matters of financial analysis, procedures, business risks, investments, financing, taxation planning, compliance reporting and management accountability.
